Marriage is a beautiful union between two individuals, but its also a legal contract that can have significant implications on your finances and assets. While talking about a prenuptial agreement, or prenup, may not seem like the most romantic topic, it is an essential consideration for many couples.

On June 8, 1948, Canadian farmer Cecil George Harris became trapped under his tractor. Fearing he would died, he used his pocket knife to carve into the fender of the tractor, “In case I die in this mess I leave all to my wife. Cecil Geo Harris”.

In the past, there was a judicial bias that traditionally gave mothers an advantage in custody disputes.  This was because more times that not, the mother was the stay-at-home caretaker while the father worked full-time.  However, times have changed and that is no longer necessarily the case. More women work full-time now with both parents sharing the parental responsibilities.

The Tennessee Supreme Court reversed the decisions of the Montgomery County Chancery Court and The Court of Appeals yesterday when it released an opinion clarifying the Parental Relocation Statute.

Any willful disobedience to, or disregard of, a court order or any misconduct in the presence of a court; action that interferes with a judge’s ability to administer justice or that insults the dignity of the court; punishable by fine or imprisonment or both. There are both civil and criminal contempts; the distinction is often unclear.
